First Race Of The Year

Felt good to push the limits of this old body and see where i was at and what I needed to work on.

North Carolina's first triathlon of the season was held this past Sunday on the campus of UNCW in Wilimington, NC. It consisted of a 300 yard pool swim, 12 mile bike, and a 5k run. Leading up to the race I felt good about my bike training and wasn't really sure where my run was, I had felt like my swim had be stagnant for the previous four weeks before the race, but on race week I felt like it had made a turn in the right direction. Unfortunately I didn't carry that swim with me to the race and just felt like i was dragging the entire 300 yards and I could tell my heart rate was elevated, came out of the pool and jumped on the bike, feeling like I was behind coming out of the pool it was all out on the bike. Finished the bike and went into the run completely drained after burning all of my matches on the bike, manages to hold it together for around an 8:27 min/mile pace on the run. Ended up finishes in 1 hour 15 minues 59 secinds, good enough for 64th overall and 4th in age group- missed 3rd in age by 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Time to move on to the next one.
