COVID forces us all to remain flexible
Just a couple days before this race we received an email telling us that the omicron COVID surge forced Pierce County to restrict large gatherings. The race director quickly pivoted to change the race to virtual. I opted to run my virtual race at Cougar Mountain, as a trail run. It was a beautiful winter day with lots of sunshine and no wind after we'd just had a couple days of torrential rain. Not a way to have an outstanding race time but very good for the soul. I saw Coal Creek filled to the brim with water and, with the trees bare of leaves a waterfall next to the Red Town Trail that I'd never noticed before, also running very full from the recent rains. Welll worth doing.
