Virtual Eugene Half

Virtual "race" from home

I ran this virtual race from my house since I couldn't convince any friends to join me. We'd run a pretty good 10 miles the previous day - faster than I really wanted to go, but not uncomfortable. So I thought that around 8:45 - 9:00 pace would be good. I really did not want to push it since the Revel Wasatch is less than a week later - a real, in-person event.

The first 2.5+ miles are uphill (over 300' gain), then most of the rest of the distance is downhill (800 - 1000') with only  2-3 smaller, shorter inclines; except for mile 11, which was uphill again (another +100'). I also used this as some downhill practice for Revel Wasatch which is to have 800' elevation loss.

I really felt comfortable for the entire distance and did not struggle with the hills after the first 2.5 miles. I was happy to finish with an average pace of 8:35. This gives me a lot of hope for a good race in Utah! Possibly 1:45 - 1:48?
