July 31, 2020 - Batting a perfect 100% on races cancelled, it's all about perspective
I was really looking forward to this one. After having 2 races already postponed and cancelled, things started looking like they were turning around for the better. Gyms were opening, some were going back to work, plans were in place to bring back professional sports, major attractions had announced plans to open back up. And then, well, we know what happened.
Before we got the message, I was really tracking towards a strong race. I was getting comfortable in the water, my bike rides were coming together, and I was running stronger than I'd ever run in previous builds. To cap it off, the weather on would-be race day was absolutely delightful. Instead, I celebrated with an easy ride and easy run that weekend and probably crossed paths with several would-be racers.
At this point, it's difficult to say what's in store for the rest of the season. Or maybe I'm just hopelessly optimistic about the last race I have on the calendar. If it goes, we'll be ready, and if not, we'll be ready for the next season.
