High Hopes

Fun weekend but didn't perform as hoped.

After last weekend' meet in Coeur d'Alene, I had high expectations for the Montana Masters State Championship.  Unfortunately, I did not swim as well as I had hoped.  It was not a bad meet, but I wanted to be a bit faster.  At this point, I am going to blame the altitude (4,800'), as I train at 3,000 and the meet in CDA was at 1,800.

The Bozeman Masters team hosted a great event for our relatively small turnout of 70-80 swimmers.  There are only about 200 registered masters swimmers in ALL of Montana, so 70 is pretty good.  The range is great with recent college grads (FAST) and 97-year-old Charlotte Sandhall at the top.  She's truly amazing, and I hope I'm still hanging around, and swimming, in my 90s.  This is what makes masters swimming so fun.

Here is a link to Charlotte's inspiring story:  97-Year-Old-Swimmer

So after being basically an open water swimmer for the last five years, I ventured back into the pool these last two weekends.  SUPER enjoyable.
