First Race of 2020, the Patchogue 10M Run to the Brewery. It was 20 degrees, but no wind (thank god.) Sufficient was fleece suit with dri-fit long underwear and turtleneck.
The Group pace was quick, pulling me under an 8 minute mile pace, below my target pace 8:20. I slowly backed off to something near 8 minute per mile pace for the next 3 or 4 miles. I steadied my pace passing the time talking with a few fellow runners. I knew my pace planning was a success as I turned up the pace miles 8 and 9. I sprinted to the finish at my best yet 10M pace 8:17s (on my watch); Official pace 8:22s, finish time 1:23:41. I ran a solid pace with average 144bpm HR.
The Tri guys were out in force. IM marked shirts and tattoos were everywhere! Tri sports are getting more popular or… they just like to drink beer!
