I am married (42 years) and have 2 grown daughters. One in Eugene, OR and one in Bremerton, WA. Additionally we have 10 YOA Granddaughter.
Besides Triathlons I enjoy golf in good weather and skiing in the winter
A lot of our time is spent hanging out with our 3 year old Basset Hound Angus. He, along with my wife Gale make up my dedicated support team.
My first exposure to triathlon was being the Coast Guard rep on the Budweiser trailer on the Kona Pier for the 1988 Ironman. Being utterly impressed with what these athletes were accomplishing I continued to follow the sport. After retiring in Nov 2018 I decided to give triathlon a try and began training. In 2019 I completed Sprint Events at the Seafair Tri on Lake Washington and The Black Diamond Tri near Enumclaw, WA. I continued training and in 2020 finished four events that were virtual due to COVID. Three were Sptint and one was an Olympic distance. In 2021 I completed three sprint distance races, HAGG Lake in Oregon, Seafair in Issaqua, WA, and The Columbia River Tri in Vancouver, WA.
In 2022 I completed 3 Sprint distance events, Pacific Crest Endurance Festival, Seafair Triathlon in Issaqua, WA, and the Columbia River Triathlon in Vancouver, WA. The was a 4th race planned in Scottsdale, AZ, but COVID happened.
I hope to continue participating in the sport as long as I can.
