Hello!
My name is Julia and I have been a competitive swimmer since I was 10 years old. I swam competitively in High School as a state swimmer and in College. Since then I have been active in the outdoors which includes triathlons. I entered myself in triathlons because I thought it would be a good way to unleash my competitive side as an avid swimmer and cyclist. I started to place in my age group when I raced and decided to make training part of my routine. I also really love to get away and travel whether it’s in my state or out of the country. If I do travel, I always look for a place to swim, bike, or run to get to know my surroundings. If I swim, I find a pool or go outside in a lake or ocean. I remember taking a solo year long trip to Australia and wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef but because I did not have the funds to go out on a tour, I signed up for the Billabong Swim Reef Race. The event happened to be during the same week as the Ironman in Cairns. I ended up swimming a 2 mi race in the Great Barrier Reef which was one of the most unique experiences of all time! During my down time I enjoy getting out with my dog, camping, playing violin, or getting crafty at home. I’m also a Massage Therapist, so health and staying on my feet is a very important practice for me. I once ate 19 tacos though in one sitting, so indulging in some good food is always a must.
