I'm a life-long swimmer. Began competitive swimming at age-9... and the rest is history!
As an age-grouper in my home country of Canada, I was nationally ranked in the Backstroke events and went on to compete at the 2000 and 2004 Canadian Olympic trials.
My college swimming career led me to Louisiana State University in 1999 and finished as an NCAA Division-1 All-American.
I started swim coaching in 2004 and in 2011 started racing in some triathlons and coaching triathletes.
In 2012, I joined dear friend and mentor, Coach Barry Stokes and we started building a swim coaching program specifically for age-grouper triathletes.
That program evolved into what is now called Swim Smooth Louisville.
As post-collegiate athletes, I have done two half-Iron events (Rev3 Knoxville, and IRONMAN Steelhead), USAT Age-Group National Championships, The Myrtle Beach Marathon, and countless other sprint- and olympic-distance triathlons, half-marathons, and road races.
I have three children ages 3, 5, and 8... and while I don't compete in as many triathlons these days due to time constraints, I'm still very active in open water swimming.
In 2017 I finished in 2nd place overall in my very first marathon-distance swim at the Swim Around Charleston.
Since then, I have been pioneering open water swimming in and around Kentucky with fellow open water swimmers. The Ohio River in Louisville, KY, offers stunning views and (depending on the time of year) challenging and fun swims!
