I’m a family man, USAT Certified L1 Coach, and President of the Rochester Area Triathletes (RATs, 300 members), ROC Triathlon Coordinator, Ironman TriClub Leader, and an ambassador for Multi-Sport Canada.
I was an athlete my whole childhood and was a small college basketball player. I tore my ACL, fell way out of shape, and spent the next decade living an unhealthy lifestyle. At 270lbs, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and pressure in my early
30’s. When my wife got pregnant, I decided to make a change for my daughter. After significant weightloss from cycling, I gravitated toward triathlons and began competing in races at 40. Five years and 30+ races, I became a certified coach and elected into the lead position of my Tri club (150 members). Because I’m an MBA working for Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, I founded our Triathlon team as a wellness initiative for coworkers. I’ve successfully trained 34 people to complete their first Sprint Tri since 2017.
My mission is to keep inspiring those that need the extra push to get back in shape at any age through words and actions.
Thanks for your time and consideration,
Mike
