I am a 64 year old open water swimmer who lives in Chicago. I swam competitively from about 5th grade on, stopping in college. I discovered open water swimming in Vermont as an adult after years of pool swimming. I now swim in Lake Michigan almost daily. As a cancer survivor, the water is one place where my body feels whole. All my cold water gear is BlueSeventy: thermal cap, gloves, socks, and my brand new Thermal Reaction wetsuit. I routinely swim a mile and just recently did my first two mile swim. I am part of an early-AM swimmers group called The Point Swimmers that swim off the point in Chicago. Since first joining I have done my first triathlon, swum Big Shoulders twice, and am signed up for some 5K runs as well as geared up with new goggles, swim caps, a wetsuit and trisuit from Blueseventy. I live in Chicago with my husband and my pets and absolutely love it. I am a retired attorney who has found athletics in my older years!
