I ran at a fairly competitive level for a number of years - not college competitive, but reasonably well. While injured, I decided to swim to stay fit. At 35 years old, I realized I did not know how to swim. I knew how to not drown, but not really swim.
I decided to master proper form, so I bought a book and taught myself to swim. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I do. I am not fast, but I love getting in open water.
I have done a couple of triathlons. I have taken a couple of swim vacations (through Swim Trek) and I hope to do a 5k and 10k swim. My original plan was 5k this year and 10k next. But then 2020 happened.
As I approach 50, I still run, but am not as fast (now a 20 minute 5k runner vs. my old 17:00 days). I swim often (when the pandemic allows it) and live an active, fun life.
To represent blueseventy would just be a great validation of all of this!
