My wife and I have five children and twelve grandchildren. Family is a big deal with us. I am entering the twilight of my career and I look forward to spending more time with my grandchildren. I am an avid swimmer with long distance freestyle being my strength. I am a USMS member at Texas Ford Aquatics in Frisco, TX. I have competed in 13 half ironmans including world championships in 2008 and 2009. I love competition and I enjoy the social aspect of competing and getting to know other athletes with the same passions I have. I was recently appointed as the Open Water chairperson for the North Texas area of USMS. I am planning our first OW competition in May 2023.
I rode at UNBOUND in June and that was an epic ride. I will go back in 2023 to ride with my youngest son. I was set to do some epic racing/riding in late 2022 including the Lake George 10k Open Water nationals and Big Sugar gravel ride in Bentonville, AR. However, a bike crash and subsequent hip replacement thwarted those plans. Rehab is going well and I hope to complete those events and more in 2023.
It has been an honor to be part of this team since 2020. I have enjoyed reading of other's accomplishments, epic adventures and even learning from other's missed opportunities. I would like to continue as a member of the B70 racing team in 2023.
