Hi my name is Christian Moden and I am originally from Colorado Springs, CO and I am currently studying computer science at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I am also a contracted scholarship cadet in Kansas State University's Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) pursuing a commission in the U.S Air Force as an officer in Cyber Warfare, military space operations, or military intelligence. My journey to competing in triathlons started with my decade long swimming career from when I was nine years old. I quickly fell in love with the sport and continued competitive racing throughout my high school career. During my high school career swimming career, our team, Cheyenne Mountain High School, won Colorado 4A State Championships three years in a row. I was ranked top ten in the 4A Colorado State Division for back stroke for all four years of my high school career (ranking third by my senior year) and competed on a state championship winning relay, qualifying for All American Consideration. Despite my successful swimming career, I found my true passion in high school mountain bike racing through NICA. At the beginning of my freshman year, I had never experienced mountain biking, however, by my senior year I was the captain of my 30+ member Cheyenne Mountain High School Cycling Club and raced in the Varsity Boys division of the Colorado High School Cycling League. After high school, I finally found the best of both worlds and gave triathlons a shot. I immediately fell in love with the sport and it is now my main focus in training. My hobbies include training(cycling, mountain biking, gravel cycling, running, trail running, swimming, and CrossFit), hiking in Colorado, involvement with my campus youth group Christian Challenge, cyber security/ computer programming competitions, and reading.
