Hello! I am a triathlete and a postdoc studying human genetics at the University of Utah in SLC, USA. I'm originally from Boston, where I grew up open-water swimming in the kettle ponds in Cape Cod with my parents; I've been hooked ever since. When living in France on a Fulbright after undergrad, I began running half-marathons as a way to see cities and consume as much French food and wine as possible. Moving to Seattle for my PhD was the perfect impetus for starting training seriously for triathlons - they were a great way to take advantage of the gorgeous surrounding area, make strong friends outside of academia, and blow off grad school stress. Now in Utah, I'm balancing triathlons with backcountry sports, and am dipping my toe into ski mountaineering ("skimo") and nordic ski racing. During the summer, you can find me in aero fighting the headwinds up Emigration Canyon, or squeezing in a trail run up Grandeur Peak. The winters see me nordic skiing or getting in a lap up near Alta. I am also gay, and am passionate about being involved with and creating spaces for other queer athletes. Outside of athletics, I geek out about music, cooking, and community-supported agriculture.
