I am currently a junior at Denison University studying kinesiology. Last year I was a member of the varsity swim team and I was fortunate enough to be apart of a great group of men that competed in the NCAA D3 National Championship. We emerged as the 2019 NCAA D3 champions and with the help of the entire team I was able to be apart of the 200 medley relay national champion team swimming the butterfly leg.
I grew up playing every sport available which led me to compete in swimming, soccer, track, and football throughout high school. I was able to achieve All-American honors in swimming and All-State in soccer by the end of high school. I only recently started competing in triathlon at the age of 15 with little expectation or idea of where it would lead. I ended up doing okay in some small local races and qualified for the 2018 Age group national championships where I was invited to compete in the 2019 ITU Sprint World Championships in Lausanne. Unfortunately due to financial reasons that dream was unable to happen. I took an off-year this past racing season to pursue solely swimming in an attempt to qualify for the 2020 Olympic trials. But recently I have decided to remove myself from the team here to fully pursue triathlon and other interests in my life. I see this as a huge opportunity to explore other pursuits and test my boundaries in a relatively new sport for me. I have been an uber competitor my whole life and have found great value in the team sports I have been apart of and also individual aspects of training and performance.
I have also been heavily involved in my church's youth group and place a strong emphasis on team mission work. I feel I have benefited tremendously from these experiences around the world which have translated very well to how I live my life back home. Most recently this past July I spent three weeks doing construction work and aiding with a mission team helping local orphanages.
My experience in working with a large variety of teams, churches, and coaches has helped my achieve many of my goals in life. However, I feel there is still so much out there to pursue and I'm very excited to get started on this new journey of mine, hopefully with blueseventy by my side.
